Signature of a giant ego with a wish for vengeance

THE signature on Osama bin Laden's statement speaks volumes about his
personality, three leading graphologists said last night. It reveals
character traits which indicate his motivation for sponsoring terrorism
around the world.

Osama bin Laden's signature
Caroline Murray, Usha Mullan and Lorraine Herbert, all leading figures
in the British Academy of Graphology, said that the faxed signature
appears to reveal a rampant ego compensating for possible perceived
childhood slights.

Using an enneagram, an ancient typology which has been applied to
graphological research, they said that the signature also implied a
strong libido driving the writer's actions.

Mrs Murray said: "He's obviously got a huge ego. He may suffer from an
inferiority complex and is over compensating through aggression and
violence." The large signature could suggest a root for bin Laden's
aggression in his childhood.

"The person may be projecting blame on to others for some perceived
wrong that was done him as a child. He seems to have a wish for
vengeance against society which he may believe has treated him
unfairly."

Mrs Murray also suggested other motivations behind the terrorist
leader's actions. "From what we can see from the faxed copy, he seems to
have an above average libido. He has to discharge this energy, if it
gets too pent up he has to release it and he may go into a frenzy.

"He's a rebellious individualist and a non-conformist with a hedonistic
drive for stimulation. Anticipation of punishment doesn't stop him." The
graphologists also suggested that fear of death had motivated bin
Laden's actions and he had projected it by killing others. He might have
difficulty distinguishing between fantasy and reality.

They chose to use the ancient technique, which has recently been
championed by Mrs Mullan, because the normal graphology techniques of
analysing pressure of strokes and spacing were denied them.

Mrs Murray said: "Because it's on a fax and we don't know what the
pressure is and it's typed arabic in the rest of the letter, the
enneagram is the only route we can find into it. But the conclusions are
staggering. It is a very symbolic signature."
