[escepticos] experimentacion animal

Dear Researchers:

Local law enforcement agencies believe that OSU has been selected by radical
animal rights activists for a laboratory break-in, release of animals, and
destruction of property. The month of April is "Animal Rights Month" and
April 21 is "Animal Rights Day." If you use animals in your research or
classroom projects, you should take steps to protect your animals, your
research data, and your facilities.
        1. Protect your research data. Back up your computer hard
drives and take the back-up disks off campus. Animal rights activists want
to destroy the future of your research, as well as steal your animals.
        2. Change the locks on doors to buildings and laboratories.
Limit access to keys. Require that keys be checked out from a central
location, if necessary, for after-hours work.
        3. Report doors that may be blocked open or unauthorized people
at odd hours.
        4. When giving tours of your facilities, require a picture I.D.
(e.g. driver's license) and make a copy of it. If a break-in does occur,
this may be the only photograph of the intruder and provides a record of
previous access. Do not allow anyone to take photographs of your
facilities. Ask tour participants to leave backpacks in a secure location.
        5. Do not explain your security system, or lack of one, to
anyone. Do not advertise that you may be an easy target. Like most
criminals, animal rights activists are looking for the location where they
can do the most damage while taking the least amount of risk.
        6. Arson is becoming an acceptable "tool" for activists. They
are willing to accept the death of animals in lieu of allowing these animals
to be used in research and/or instruction.

In other words, be smart. These terrorists often do a sophisticated "threat
assessment" prior to determining which facility to target. If you think
they don't know that you use animals, you are probably wrong. Don't be a
target.

Maravilloso, ¿verdad? :-(
