[escepticos] RE: Sobre transgenicos.

cosas.
Entre ellas,

Dice:
"Researchers at Oregon State University have found no harmful effects in
convergent lady beetles feeding on green peach aphids reared on transgenic
potatoes containing a Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt) toxin. The researchers
found no significant effect on lady beetle survival, development,
reproduction, or aphid consumption. While some effects were noticed, they
were not significant. The researchers stated, "The possibility therefore
exists that effects do occur but at such low levels that much higher samples
would be required to distinguish them. The biological relevance of such
minor effects would be questionable."

parameters of convergent lady beetle (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) feeding on
aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae) on transgenic potato. Journal of Economic
Entomology 89:1105-1108.

También he encontrado lo siguiente (esta vez, las palabras clave fueron
transgenic, Scotland, Institute):
http://www.sightings.com/earthchanges/ladybug.htm
The lifespan of ladybugs was reduced to half when they ate aphids that had
fed on genetically altered potatoes in Scotland, according to a London Times
article (10/22/97) by Science Editor, Nigel Hawkes. The ladybugs also laid
fewer eggs.

How did it get in the London Times? The Annual Report of the Institude
describes research projects conducted. The London Times picked up the story
from the annual report.
