El dato, absolutamente erroneo, proviene de un articulo publicado en 1985 en
el Boletin de la Academia Nacional de Medicina (la francesa) y titulado
*Estudio de los meridianos de la acupuntura usando trazadores radioactivos*.
Los autores del engendro (Vernejoul, Albarede, y Darras, del servicio de
medicina nuclear del hospital de Necker en Paris) pincharon un trazador
radiactivo (tecnecio 99) en uno de los puntos de acupuntura del pie y
observaron (¡eureka! ¡es verdad! ?y si nos dan el Nobel?) que el trazador
ascendia por el meridiano de acupuntura correspondiente.
Hasta que en 1988 los medicos del servicio de medicina nuclear del hospital
Toulouse-Purpan de Toulouse repitieron el experimento y lo que vieron fue
que el trazador radiactivo subia, si, pero no por el trayecto del meridiano
sino a traves de los conductos venosos y linfaticos de la pierna; que las
trayectorias obtenidas eran similares tanto si el trazador se inyectaba en
un punto de acupuntura como en cualquier otro punto del pie; y que la
trayectoria del trazador desaparecia cuando se comprimia la vena,
reapareciendo al eliminar la compresion. Conclusion: los descubridores de la
realidad del meridiano de acupuntura se habian hecho merecedores del
Ignatius Nobel.
Os atacheo la referencia y el abstrac de este segundo articulo (del primero
no lo hago, no porque el sentido del decoro me impida llenaros de mierda el
buzon, sino porque en el Medline no viene).

<P>Radioactive trajectories can be visualized by injecting a radioactive tracer, technetium 99 m, at the site of acupuncture points. To determine the exact nature of these trajectories we performed several experiments on healthy volunteers, and our results may be summarized as follows. The target organs of technetium 99 m, and notably the thyroid gland, were always visualized. The circulating radioactivity, visible on scintiscans and confirmed by venous blood counts, was not negligible. The radioactive trajectories we observed were often divided at their starting point and did not extend along the whole length of the acupuncture meridians they might have made visible. The radioactive trajectories disappeared after venous blockade to reappear when the blockade was lifted. Finally, the radioactive trajectories obtained were very similar after injection at the acupuncture point and at a control point. These findings indicate a lymphatic
and venous drainage of the radioactive tracer at the site of injection followed by transportation through the veins, rather than visualization of acupuncture meridians as suggested by some authors.
